Am kuwaiti , and kuwait being 70 or so among the world for fifa ranking ,does not mean I must ignore them and talk about teams
so well known instead . So here am trying to say things although there are no enough sources to talk about them, but it is
our dearist azraq . As a Kuwaiti song said ( hatha alazraq habibi) means our blue team is our love what ever their ranking
was !

KUWAIT SOCCER HISTORY:
Soccer in Kuwait is kind of a recent game, as with the other kind of sports in Kuwait.
Kuwait participated in many soccer
tournaments and cups, Kuwait might be not that famous world wide, but have a good history when comparing their history with
the other countries histories in their region from the Arabian gulf, the Arabic countries and the Asian countries as well.
ASIA :
When looking at the Asian Olympic games, we might not see that big achievement list, but the silver medal in 1998 Olympics.
But in the Asian cup of nation, we can see that Kuwait is not an easy target, Kuwait scored the title in 1980 when Kuwait
hosted that cup. Scored the second and the third place many times, but in the last cup in 2000 left the tournament from the
quarter final against KSA .
In Asias world cup qualification round, Kuwait was always a hard team to pass, although they
made it to the finals only in once in 1982 in Spain.
In 98 world cup qualifications Kuwait was so close to reach the
finals, but ended the qualification round in their groups last position. This year 2001, Kuwait were supposed to reach at
least the second round, they had an easy group, but unfortunately many inside problems in the Kuwaiti FA effected Kuwait qualification
negatively.
Furthermore, In the Asian AFC, Kuwait has a very effective voice by Asad Taki who helped, for example, Kuwait
not to play with Iraq in the same group in Asia youth cup of nation in Iran 2001.
THE GULFEN CUP :
This tournament is the best thing happened to the Kuwaiti soccer history, Kuwait won 9 titles from this cup who was organized
14 times. They scored the first one and the last 2 in 96,98. And inshallah they will take the next one in KSA 2002 who knows
:)

As I mentioned before, Kuwait had no big history in the world cup but qualifying to the finals of 1982 in Spain. They were
in a group gathered them with France, England and Czechoslovakia. Lost the game against France and England, and draw with
Czechoslovakia.

GOLDEN AGE :
Kuwait witnessed an age of players was named the golden age, that team was the one who qualified to the only world cup Kuwait
made it to, and scored the only Asian cup of nation title. Many famous names was their as Faisal Al Dekheel, Jassim Yaqoub,
Saad Al Hooti, Fathi Kameel, Hammed Bo Hammed, Abdulaziz Al Anbiri and others. That was and still the best team Kuwait ever
had, honored Kuwait, and spread their respect among the coming ages of players in Kuwait.
